SEA Games Flag Arrives in Cambodia with Excitement!

Phnom Penh: The SEA Games flag arrived in Phnom Penh along with the Cambodian athletes at around 5:30 pm on Tuesday 24 May. The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) celebrated this arrival with a parade of the athletes and the flag from the Phnom Penh International airport all the way to the NOCC.

Upon his arrival in Cambodia, the Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Cambodian SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) of the 32nd SEA Games in 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh said that this is a historic achievement in sports and prestige to bring the flag of the 32nd SEA Games to Cambodia.

The Deputy Prime Minister added, "Let the spirit of the SEA Games provide the strength and energize the National Sports Movement and the Olympic Movement as well as helping Cambodia to host the 2023 ASEAN Para Games successfully to achieve great national honor. This will be the first historical event [in sports] for the Kingdom of Cambodia."

He called on all ministries, institutions, stakeholders, and Cambodians to be ready to host sports delegations and international guests from around the world with a smile and dignified attitude, maintain cleanliness, and eliminate inactivity in society to promote Cambodia's reputation in this historic event.

Deputy Prime Minister said, "I would like to call on all of you to join and be the host everywhere and be very active in our sporting events as well."

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister also asked all philanthropists to support the ASEAN Sports Fund 2023 to contribute and support the spending of the SEA Games and Para Games 2023 in order for the events to be successful.

This is the first time that Cambodia will host the SEA Games and Para Games after Cambodia completed 100% of the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh.

Last night, the Cambodian National Anthem was played in the Hanoi Indoor Games Gymnasium, as Vietnam handed over the SEA Games flag to the Cambodian delegation as the host of the 2023 SEA Games.

The 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia will officially open on 5 May until 17 May; while the ASEAN Para Games will start on 1 June until 10 June 2023.
